H&K Group Inc.'s Mobile CAT Simulators Hit The Road

Skippack, PA - On Thursday, October 17th, H&K Group, Inc.’s Human Resources Team traveled to Williamsport, PA to participate in Pennsylvania College of Technology’s “Build My Future” program.

A large contingent of high school students with interest in the construction trades were offered the chance to experience a revolutionary new method of employee training and recruiting, as H&K’s mobile Caterpillar (CAT) heavy equipment simulators attracted long lines of people. Working equipment hardware and controls, as well as innovative simulation software, enable the user to perform jobsite applications and learn how the actual tasks are performed.

The H&K Team then attended Lower Pottsgrove Township’s Community Day Event at Ringing Hill Volunteer Fire Company in Pottstown, PA on Saturday, October 19th. Once more, the technology of the virtual experience captivated the crowd. Township residents of all ages patiently waited for the opportunity to virtually test their heavy equipment operation skills.

These CAT heavy equipment simulators offer a high-tech, dynamic mobile heavy equipment training experience that can be implemented anywhere at any time. The foundations of muscle memory are laid down, and a mental blueprint of how to perform specific jobsite duties is written before the user enters the actual jobsite. This preparedness not only saves time in the long run, but also enhances jobsite safety due to having foreknowledge of the correct procedures. Overhead is lowered by way of fewer training hours and less frequent equipment maintenance, and greater work efficiency also facilitates sustainability by leading to more moderate fuel usage.

H&K’s Mobile Training Program is operated and managed by Brian Kremenowksi, Recruiter with H&K’s Human Resources Department, and Brett Thomas, with H&K’s Fleet Support Department. In the coming months, H&K plans to utilize their Mobile Training Simulators for workforce engagement events like those that took place on October 17th and October 19th. The mobile nature of the Training Units opens the door to a broader recruiting audience who would otherwise have fewer opportunities to experience heavy equipment operation.

The H&K Group Family of Companies have provided heavy civil contracting and construction services, construction and building materials, and associated ancillary services through over 80 operations in three states including eastern PA, NJ and DE, for over 50 years.
