On Monday, December 3, 2007, Handwerk Site Contractors (Handwerk) partnered with Gilbane
Building Company (Gilbane) to begin the demolition phase of preliminary site development work at
the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Central Pennsylvania - Hershey location.
Demolition is being performed on an existing residential structure at an adjoining property recently
acquired by RMHC, in order to facilitate expansion of their existing facility in Hershey. The
proposed expansion will ultimately increase the facility’s capacity from 20 to 35 families. In
grateful acknowledgement of those H&K Group employee families who have utilized RMHC
services or facilities, Handwerk is honored to donate all in-kind services and materials provided
during this phase of preliminary site development work.
Handwerk, a Hummelstown, Pennsylvania-based full-service site contracting and demolition
company, will perform controlled mechanical demolition of the existing structures on the
designated property. Utilizing track-mounted hydraulic excavation and grapple equipment,
Handwerk will dismantle all structures on this adjoining property and prepare the site for predevelopment. Handwerk fully anticipates the demolition project to be completed within one week. Gilbane will perform pre-construction oversight and management of the RMHC demolition project. Frescatore Consulting, Inc. will be providing roll-off container service for the demolition debris. Handwerk and Gilbane respectively bring site and general contracting expertise to the RMHC project, and are likewise involved in ongoing development and construction work at the adjacent Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. The medical center’s affiliation with RMHC,
Gilbane and Handwerk, makes this pre-development demolition project a natural fit for all parties.
